About ImpelUp

Most businesses already have recurring revenue. What they don’t have is anyone to run it.

ImpelUp designs, builds and operates subscription programs. We find the recurring revenue sitting inside a business that already exists, turn it into a program customers can join, and then run that program month after month — the enrollment, the billing, the support, the renewals.

What we kept seeing

An owner knows exactly which customers will be back and roughly when. He throws in the small stuff for free because it’s easier than invoicing it. He has a quiet season he dreads and a busy one he can’t staff for.

Ask him why he doesn’t put that on a monthly plan and the answer is never “I hadn’t thought of it.” It’s some version of “with what time?” Somebody has to price it, build the enrollment, take the payments, chase the declines, handle the cancellations and answer the phone about it — forever.

The idea was never the hard part. Running it is the hard part.

So we do that part.

Our purpose

ImpelUp exists to bring structure and stability to subscription-based offerings.

Rather than short-term promotions or one-time transactions, we concentrate on programs designed to operate continuously and responsibly — programs a customer can understand on the day they join and still rely on two years later.

A well-structured program is a better experience than a fragmented or temporary one, for the customer and for the business behind it. That’s the whole thesis.

Our approach

Five stages, and we stay through all five. Most of the work is in the last one.

Identify
We look at how the business actually runs — who comes back, how often, and what’s already being given away — and say whether there’s a program in it.
Design
Tiers, pricing and what’s included, built around the customer’s real rhythm rather than a generic monthly plan.
Build
Enrollment, billing, the member experience and the support path — assembled and tested before anyone is sold anything.
Host
We run the platform it lives on. Nothing to install, nothing for the business to maintain.
Maintain
Every month after launch: renewals, declines, cancellations, support, and the changes the program needs as it ages.
ImpelUp operates as the platform behind these programs. The business keeps doing the work its customers pay it for — we keep the program running underneath.

Program operations

“We operate it” is easy to say, so here is what that actually means once a program is live.

Enrollment
People are enrolled, verified and welcomed — and told exactly what they signed up for, in writing, on day one.
Billing
Recurring charges run on schedule. Expired cards, declines and retries are worked rather than written off.
Support
Members reach a real support path when they have a question about their plan, their charge or their cancellation.
Cancellations
Honoured promptly and without a maze. A program people can leave easily is a program more of them will join.
Reporting
The business sees what’s enrolled, what’s billing and what’s churning. No black box.

We run our own, too

ImpelUp doesn’t only build these for other people. We operate a portfolio of our own subscription programs — enrollment, billing, support and renewals, all on the same platform we’d put a partner’s program on.

That’s deliberate, and it’s the reason any of this is worth listening to. Every problem a program hits in month fourteen, we have already hit first, on our own money. Nothing we recommend is theoretical.

Why we’re paid a percentage

We could charge a fee to build one of these and move on. We don’t, for a reason that’s more practical than principled.

A subscription program is not a launch. It’s a thing that has to keep working in month fourteen, when the novelty has gone, cards start expiring, and someone has to notice that enrollments have stalled. Anyone paid up front has no reason to be there for that.

We’re paid every month it keeps earning, which means the only way we do well is if it’s still working. It also means we won’t build one we don’t believe in — there’s no fee to collect on a program nobody joins.

And the businesses we work with are often the ones a fixed monthly invoice would hurt most. Charging a seasonal contractor a flat fee in January is the same problem we’re supposed to be solving.

Who this is for

Being straight about it saves everyone a conversation.

It works when

  • Your customers come back on a rhythm — mileage, seasons, a coat, a schedule
  • You already have a customer list worth talking to
  • You throw things in for free that customers would pay to have scheduled
  • You have a season that’s thinner than the rest
  • You’re the reason it hasn’t been built — because you’re doing the actual work

It doesn’t when

  • Your customers genuinely buy once and never return
  • You’re just starting out and don’t have a list yet — there’s nothing to build on
  • You want a marketing campaign to find new customers; that isn’t this
  • You want to own and run the platform yourself
If it’s the second column, we’ll say so. The evaluation is free and it can come back “there isn’t a program here.” That answer is worth having too.
